The internal audit report by Wirral Council into the APPALLING mismanagement of the installation of cycle lanes in Birkenhead Town Centre has been published.

Key points:

😡 Budget: £12m. So far: £24m.

😡 contract and procurement rules ignored

😡 instead, chasing a Government grant was the priority

😡 400 requests from contractor; tender spec was unclear

😡 Incapable of managing such schemes.

The Council managers overseeing this scheme are the same people overseeing the cycle lanes at Fender Lane and New Ferry.
